Server side scripting is a powerful and customisable technology for creating dynamic web pages. It has several benefits over client side scripting. For example it allows controllable environment for executing server side scripts whereas user environment cannot be controlled when using client side scripting. Server side scripts are able to change the HTML output according to the web browsers. Server- side technologies are installed on the web servers to process the scripts and HTML stream is then returned to the client’s web browser. This unit does not require the use of any particular server side scripting language and the user can choose depending upon their knowledge and skills.
This is a skills based unit and will allow learners to demonstrate that they have the necessary skills to be able to design, program and test server side scripts. The unit will guide learners through the process of constructing dynamic web pages using relevant server side technology.
